How Fees Work on SiCarro
SiCarro is a marketplace that connects vehicle owners (suppliers) with renters (drivers). This article explains the different fees, how they are calculated, and the tax treatment that applies to each party.

Renter Service Fee (9% with card, 5% with Lightning)
When the renter pays online, SiCarro charges a 9% service fee for card payments and a 5% service fee for Bitcoin Lightning payments, calculated on the rental price. The renter pays it: it does not reduce your earnings.
How it works
| Item | Amount |
|---|---|
| Rental price (set by supplier) | $100.00 |
| Service fee with card (9%, VAT included) | $9.00 |
| Total charged online | $109.00 |
- The service fee is displayed as a separate line during checkout and on booking confirmations
- The renter pays it, not the supplier: your payout is calculated on the rental price
- Paying with Lightning costs 5% instead of 9% with a card ($105.00 instead of $109.00 on a $100.00 rental)
- The total is rounded up to the next whole dollar
- Delivery and the security deposit are not paid online: the renter pays them in cash to the supplier when the vehicle is handed over
- If the renter pays in person, no service fee applies
SiCarro Service Commission
SiCarro charges a service commission on each booking. This commission is calculated only on the rental price, not on the total amount including the renter service fee.
Commission calculation example
| Item | Amount |
|---|---|
| Rental price | $100.00 |
| SiCarro commission (10%) | -$10.00 |
| Supplier receives | $90.00 |
The commission rate may vary by supplier tier and is specified in your supplier agreement. You can see your current rate in your dashboard settings.
IVA on SiCarro's Commission
The IVA (Impuesto a la Transferencia de Bienes Muebles y a la Prestacion de Servicios) at the standard rate of 13% is included in SiCarro's service commission. It is not charged as an additional amount on top of the commission.
IVA breakdown example
| Item | Amount |
|---|---|
| SiCarro commission (10% of $100) | $10.00 |
| IVA included in commission (13% / 1.13) | $1.15 |
| Net commission before IVA | $8.85 |
SiCarro handles IVA reporting and remittance for its own intermediation service. Suppliers do not need to handle IVA on the commission amount.
Supplier Tax Obligations
As a vehicle owner earning income through SiCarro, you are responsible for your own tax obligations on the rental income you receive:
- Income Tax (ISR): Rental income must be declared on your annual income tax return
- IVA on rentals: If you are a registered taxpayer (NRC holder), you may need to charge and remit IVA on the rental service you provide to the renter. This is separate from SiCarro's commission IVA
- Informal suppliers: If you are not formally registered, your obligations depend on your total annual income. Consult an accountant to determine your status
- Record keeping: SiCarro provides earnings reports you can export from your dashboard. Keep all records for at least 5 years
💡 Tip: For detailed information on tax filing deadlines, deductible expenses, and NRC/NIT registration, see our Tax Reporting for Suppliers article.
